wallpapering. This step is far much important if the wall has other existing
paints and wallpapers. However, for a new wall, one does not need to do any
preparation. If the wall to be painted has existing cracks, then imperfections
should be prepared using spackle. The wall is then left for 24 hours to allow
it dry.

areas such as exterior doors, trim, and many others.
The Disadvantages of Painting
- It is not convenient to use
paints on walls that are damaged or scrapped off since the paint tends to chip
in. in such a scenario, one needs to repair it and sometimes it is expensive
and tedious.
- Some brands of paints come with
an unpleasant smell. Upon applying on the walls, it normally takes some days
for the smell to wear out.
The Advantages of Wallpapering
- The wallpapers can be
conveniently used in damaged walls. One is not required to repair the walls
reducing the working time and expenses.
- Wallpapers do not have any
choking smell, therefore, pleasant to use.
- The wallpapers are also
durable. They tend to resist both wear and tear, thus last longer. This enables
one to save money that could have been used in repair and replacement.
Disadvantages of Wallpapering
- Removing the existing
wallpapers is a tedious and time-consuming process. The right tools should be
used to avoid damaging the wall.
- The wallpapers are fixed using
adhesives. The high level of moisture in kitchens and bathrooms can make the
wallpaper to peel away from the wall.
Wallpapers or paints can be used to decorate the walls. Both methods
have got advantages and disadvantages. One needs to consider the areas where
the decorations have to be made. For instance, it is advisable to use paints in
kitchens and bathrooms due to their high moisture levels. Paints on the hand
can be applied in walls where there is low moisture content.
